2) in an other window I try to login with a user which is not listed
in PFTEST.passwd file, because I guess proftpd check the existence of this
particular user in /etc/passwd as well.

It mentions the AuthOrder directive, which is what you're looking for.

However I added to /tmp/PFTEST/PFTEST.conf the following line (but it did
not have any effect)
AuthOrder mod_auth_unix.c
Still the logon with a user from /etc/passwd fails.
Now you need to check the proftpd debug logging to find out why:
